Birthday Wish

Aren’t these the cutest little mice that you’ve ever seen? They are from the Critter Party stamp set from Stamper’s Dream.

I stamped those adorable mice onto white cardstock using black StazOn ink and then colored it using the fabulous koh-i-noor pencils and OMS!

That cute patterned paper is from the Memory Box Sugar Paper collection and is layered onto a white cardfront. The sentiment is stamped with black StazOn ink. (and I just realized that it’s a tad crooked – oh well.)

For visual interest, I added some paper piercing around the edge of the white cardstock and then two little gemstones add the perfect bling!

Bird and Swirls

I’m sorry that I haven’t posted much lately. If you want to know what I was up to, check this link on Splitcoaststampers: A Sunday Surprise. I was helping out with editing the new gallery pages and that didn’t leave a whole lot of time for stamping. :)

We finished that yesterday, so I was finally able to play with these new image from Stampers’ Dream. (click the image below to enlarge)

memory_bird.jpg

This card uses the new birds and flourish stamps from Memory Box. I stamped the Swish Border image onto some blue prism cardstock using Timber Brown StazOn ink and then used a sponge to distress it with Sahara Sand ink.

The Flying Bird image was stamped onto Cream Linen cardstock using Timber Brown StazOn ink – I had to stamp it twice because of the texture. I stamped the Vivaldi Flourish image onto the prism cardstock using VersaMark ink and then adhered the bird image.

I stitched around the prism cardstock using my sewing machine and then added two pearls to the upper left corner. To tie in the dark brown cardstock, I wrapped some brown satin ribbon around it and cut a slit in the prism cardstock to tie it through.

I sponged the edges of the cardfront with Sahara Sand ink before adhering the dark brown cardstock. The sentiment was printed using a font called Miss Lankfort and mounted with mounting tape.

Distressed Dry Embossing

Do you like that distressed patterned paper?! I made it using my Cuttlebug, an embossing folder, and a sanding tool. View the tutorial here: Distressed Dry Embossing.
butterfly_sand1.jpg

This card was inspired by Heather Lee-Reppen’s card here: http://inkonmyear.blogspot.com/2008/05/not-enough-time-in-day.html . I liked the orange, green, and black together so I had to try it too!

All of the supplies for the card are from Stamper’s Dream except for the white linen cardstock – which is from Archivers – and the Pumkin Pie ink pad.

The butterfly was created with the two tear-drop images from My Favorite Things’ Build A Bouquet stamp set stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink. I then stamped over them with the starburst image from Hero Arts’ Flower Icons stamp set using Black StazOn ink.

I trimmed the butterfly and mounted it onto my distressed patterned paper with mounting tape. I embossed the paper with the Script Cuttlebug embossing folder.

I added three little gemstones to the upper right corner of the paper and then a little strip of black stitched ribbon to the bottom.

The word “thanks” is from the My Favorite Things’ Punch Bunch stamp set. I stamped it onto white cardstock, trimmed it and glued it onto the cardfront.

a hoot

Who doesn’t like owls right? I got this owl stamp from Stamper’s Dream but haven’t used it yet. Well, last night I had an idea to use it with this new Wild Asparagus paper that I picked up at Archivers. I’m really excited with the way it turned out!

wild_owl.jpg

I started by stamping the Hero Arts Long Branch image onto white cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink. I only inked part of the branch though so that it was shorter. The Tiny Owl image was then stamped over the branch also using Chocolate Chip ink.

I would have preferred to use Timber Brown StazOn ink because it’s much richer and it’s a solvent ink so I don’t get the blotchy look like with the Chocolate Chip ink. But I was planning on using Copic markers and StazOn will bleed when used with Copics so I had to use a non-solvent ink.

I colored the owl using a Copic marker; Dull Ivory E43. The shading was added with a brown watercolor pencil. Just add a little pencil where you want it darker and blend it with the Copic marker.

I cut out the owl and branch (probably the longest part of the entire project), slipped it through my Xyron, and stuck it to the polka-dot paper. I used my paper piercer to add the dots around the edge.

The Blue Bayou cardfront was stamped with the dashed border image from the Of A Feather stamp set using VersaMark ink. Even though the picture doesn’t show it, the stamp does come with it.

I added the Dark Brown cardstock at an angle to add visual interest and tied a piece of Parrot Green ribbon around the cardfront, slipping it through a slit in the polka dot paper.

The sentiment is from the Of A Feather stamp set and I added three little gemstones for extra bling!

birthday wish

I LOVE the way this card turned out! I had no idea what layout or other elements I would use for this design when I started – just the main stamp and the colors. The stamp I used is from the Rubber Soul stamp set Monkey Birthday from Stamper’s Dream.

soul_cake.jpg

I stamped the cake image onto several scraps of colored cardstock using Timber Brown StazOn ink. I then cut them out and glued them together to create the finished image. It was quite simple, less messy, and it added some dimension.

The cake image is adhered to a piece of white cardstock that I cut with my oval nestabilities. I tried to pull out a little bit of elegance by matting a rectangular piece of brown cardstock behind the white oval. I think that I was able to pull that off.

I added a few 3mm gemstones to the corners and then mounted the main image onto the cardfront using Scotch Mounting Tape.

I used VersaMark ink and some stamps from the Framed Flourish stamp set to create a wisp of smoke above the candle and a couple of dots on the side of the greeting. The greeting is from the Of a Feather stamp set by Memory Box.

Simple Tree.

I’m liking this Of a Feather stamp set more and more!! I can even make a masculine card with it. You can find it in Michelle’s store: Stamper’s Dream.

masc_tree.jpg

The tree image is stamped with Palette’s Nior Black ink onto Papertrey’s white cardstock and colored in with a Copic marker – YG91.

I turned the corners over just a bit to roughen it up and then matted it on a piece of Really Rust cardstock. The georgouse Brown Satin ribbon is stapled onto the back and then I added some dimension with mounting tape.

The cardbase is a beautiful shade of olive cardstock that I picked up at Archivers (my 5 free sheets). It’s softer than SU’s Old Olive and richer than their River Rock. It was perfect for this project! The little bird image was stamped on the cardbase with VersaMark ink.

Graduation gifts

I hope that all of you had a fabulous Mother’s Day!! Today’s post is a graduation gift that I made for a friend of our family’s.

nikole_congrats.jpg

The card uses the “congratulations” stamp from Stampin’ Up’s Bursting with joy stamp set. I stamped it on white cardstock using Palette’s Nior Black ink pad and trimmed it.

The scalloped edge was created by stamping the circle image from “Of a Feather” in a row and covered the top half with the patterned paper. I used a distressing tool to roughen up the edges of the patterned paper.

I adhered the strip of white cardstock over the patterned paper and added two gemstones on either side.

nikole_gift.jpg

Momma picked several of these journals up at target on sale to use a graduation gifts. Some of them are polka-dot and some of them are striped.

The main flower image is from the Build a Bouquet stamp set. I love all of the images in that set – they make it so versatile.

I wrapped a length of olive grosgrain ribbon around the book and glued it inside of the cover. The knot was added before glueing it on and I added a pearl headed pin to the center.

The little white flower is a faux prima and I added a little gemstone to the center of it.

To finish off the journal, I made a coordinating RSVP pen and put a piece of the polka-dot patterned paper inside.
