Blog Hop – Year of Leaves

Where have I been? Well, I havn’t been in my stamp room. Our family went down to Missouri for the weekend to see my Grandmother, my First Cousin Once Removed, and her mother, my Great-Aunt from Australia. We were doing a bit of geneology research and needed my Grandmother to identify people from old photographs.

But, now we’re back and I have a few cards to post. Today is a card for the Gina K. Designs Blog Hop – usign Melanie Muenchinger’s “Year of Leaves” stamp set.

blog-hop-9-9

I chose to do something very simple – and look at the color – it’s RED!! I don’t know that I have ever used red as a cardbase before…but it was the perfect color to coordinate with my yellow leaf.

The leaf image was stamped on Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Copic Markers: R. The image was then cut out and embossed with a rectangular Nestabilities die.

The Ivory panel was then mounted to the PL Rocket Red cardbase (the striped texture is horizontal) using dimensionals and a bit of twine was wrapped around the cardbase and secured in a knot. Two copper brads were added for a little more detail.

For even more inspiration, please visit our Illustrator of the Year of Leaves stamp set, Melanie Muenchinger’s blog. You’ll want to leave a comment on her blog because she is hosting a drawing for her gorgeous stamp set there tonight!

Did you enjoy the previews so far this week? Here are two more projects that use the new sets, and the first card below uses the the color “Pumkin Spice” which was only available in the Stamp TV kit last month. As you can see on the second card, it also coordinates with many of the other colors already available from Gina K. Designs.

The two sets that are being previewed today are “Year of Leaves” from Melanie Muenchinger and “Fruitful Harvest” from Asela Hopkins.

The samples above also use a lovely new color being released this month Moonlit Fog. It’s a lovely gray that has a very slight blue hue and it coordinates beautifully with many of the other colors from Gina K. Designs – here I have it paired with Black Onyx, Ivory, and Green Apple.

Hymn Sing Invite

I made this card for invites to a hymn sing that our family is having. I needed something easy that I could mass produce, but still something with detail – I think I was able to pull it off.

The main image is part of the hymn “How Firm A Foundation” that I printed out onto Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury Soft Sand cardstock. I mounted it to the PL In the Navy cardstock using dimensionals and wrapped some of the rustic woven linen that’s included in the “Signs of Autumn” StampTV kit.

The navy panel was then layered onto the lovely PL Green Apple cardstock and an ivory flower was added along with a 3mm nail head.

Supplies:

  • Paper: PL Green Apple (GKD), PL In the Navy (GKD), PL Soft Sand (GKD)
  • Accessories: Ivory Sateen Flower (GKD), 3mm Nail Head (GKD), Woven Linen Fiber (GKD), Printer, Dimensionals
Signs of Autumn

I needed a “thinking of you” card to send to someone so I grabbed the “Signs of Autumn” Stamp TV kit and whipped this up yesterday:

The sentiment from Nina Brackett’s “Elegant Post” stamp set was stamped on Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento ink. I used four copper brads from the kit to embellish the corners.

I used several autumn colored markers to ink the maple leaf image from the “Signs of Autumn” stamp set and stamped it onto PL Ivory cardstock. The leaf was trimmed and then adhered to the large Ivory panel.

The cardbase is made from the new Green Apple carstock and I stamped a aspen leaf in the lower right corner using Pear Tart Memento ink. The Ivory panel and leave image were mounted to the cardfront using dimensionals and I added a piece of double-stitched ribbon (from the kit) around the cardbase.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Elegant Post (GKD), Signs of Autumn (GKD)
  • Ink: Rich Cocoa Memento (GKD), Pear Tart Memento (GKD), Markers (SU!)
  • Paper: PL Green Apple (GKD), PL Ivory (GKD)
  • Accessories: Copper Brads (GKD), Double-stitched ribbon (GKD), Dimensionals
Coloring with Copics

When I posted my card sample using the apple basket stamp from the “Signs of Autumn” stamp set, I received a few requests for a tutorial on how I colored the image. I mentioned in the party thread last night that I wouldn’t have time until Monday, but I didn’t have to work at the orchard yester, so I am able to get this photographed and posted.

COLORING WITH COPICS
