“Buds & Vases” & “Lovely Labels 2″

Today marks the beginning of the  Gina K. Designs September Release Previews! I’m sure that the Design Team members have many wonderful projects this month as always, so be sure to follow the links at the bottom of this post to view them.

We’re previewing two stamp sets today. The first is “Buds & Vases” by Melanie Muenchinger, and the second is “Lovely Labels 2″ by Nina Bracket.

I created the card using two stamps from Melanie’s stamp set Buds & Vases, and the sentiment from Nina’s stamp set Lovely Labels 2. I stamped the vase image onto Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, and then stamped the rosebud image over it using the same ink. I colored the images with Copic markers and I tried to create a watercolor look by leaving white highlights, “squishing” the light colors outside of the lines, and blending the colors more than usual to create the washed-out effect. The copics that I used are: RV10, RV21, RV23, and RV29 for the rosebuds; YG11, YG63, and YG67 for the leaves and stems; BG01, BG05, and BG10 for the water and vase; and YR20, YR23, W-3, and 0 for the background and shadow.

I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of PL Ivory cardstock, trimmed it, and mounted it to the cardbase using dimensionals. For a finishing touch, I added a length of black gingham ribbon.

Supply List

Stamps: Buds & Vases (GKD), Lovely Labels 2 (GKD)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (GKD)
Paper: PL Ivory
Accessories: Copic Markers (GKD), Black Gingham Ribbon, Dimensionals

This second project, I created using Nina’s Lovely Labels 2 stamp set, along with her Simple Elegance DigiPaper pack. I first printed out the Simple Curry Rosettes digi paper onto PL White cardstock at 60% and trimmed it to fit my PL Ivory cardbase. Using mustard and saffron ink, I sponged over the digi paper to created a soft yellow overtone.

The label image and sentiment were stamped onto PL Ivory cardstock using Rich Cocoa Memento ink, trimmed, and mounted to the cardfront with dimensionals. A length of cream organdy ribbon finishes of the project.

Supply List

Stamps: Lovely Labels 2 (GKD)
Ink: Rich Cocoa Memento (GKD), More Mustard (SU!), So Saffron (SU!)
Paper: PL White (GKD), PL Ivory (GKD)
Accessories: Simple Elegance DigiPaper Pack (GKD), Cream Organdy Ribbon, Dimensionals

Oh, Kub. I haven’t popped by in forever to see what you’ve been up to. These are all lovely–altho I must confess I particularly love the buds & vases one on, none other than my all-time favorite, a white base, no layers, black gingham, and beautiful coloring!

Warmest congrats on the Creative Media Track internship–how cool is that?! You will do AWESOME and learn so much, I know! What a wonderful opportunity! Wishing you all the very best!

Have you showed your gretieng cards to a big company? I think you should do that because you need to be in stores. The cards are awesome but they are an impulse purchase. They have to be right there when someone is angry and also for people to see and remember for later when they need something like this. I think a lot of specialty stores will carry your cards. Nice work!
