This is my very first paint can that I have made. I made it for one of the Virtual Stamp Night challenges during VSN weekend on Splitcoaststampers. I bought the can from my LSS for a great price!
The GORGEOUS paper that I used is from Crate Paper. I LOVE their weathered/old/slightly-rustic style that they mix into the designs – totally me!
This was a basic design – a main image layered over a narrow strip of vertical cardstock, that has striped cardstock behind it. I wrapped the striped paper around the can, securing it with Modge Podge, and covering the seam with a piece of navy bazzil cardstock.
The Snoopy image – from stampabilities – was stamped in black ink onto cardstock that coordinates with the striped background. That is another thing that I like about Crate Paper – they have a coordinating color on the back of each piece of patterned paper! Next, I stamped the same snoopy image in black ink on white cardstock, cut it out, and secured it over the brown cardstock with glue dots – this is a simple form of paper piecing.
After layering the snoopy image onto a panel of white cardstock, I attached it to the paint can with pop-up glue dots. I thought that I should use ribbon/twine somewhere so I wrapped a piece of twine around the can and added a tag.
I wasn't sure how to decorate the top so I cut out a piece of coordinating patterned paper in a circle shape, layered it on brown, and attached it to the top of the can. Next, I punched a flower shape out of a piece of navy cardstock twice, brushed the edges with Chestnut Fluid Chalk ink, and attached together with a large brown brad. I finished it off, by attaching the flower with a glue dot.
This will make a great container to give some friends some fresh chocolate chip cookies!

Very Cute. I love to decorate paint cans. Lowes and Home Depot also have them for a really cheap price. Lisa
Fabulous! Clean and very well-designed!
I love your choices for the container and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE chocolate chip cookies! This is a great idea!
I would like to know something that’s been eating at my mind ever since I fould your blog…do you really post at 6:00am everday or is that just the time set in that field for??? LOL.
I’m also very excited about hearing your voice, which is very pleasant BTW, on the watermark tutorial. I’ve always wondered about the voices of the bloggers, yet I feel like I know them, TFS.
Just gorgeous. I really love the Snoopy image!
Juanita–
I normally right up my post the night before and set the post time on the entry to display the post at 6:00 the next morning.
Delightful creation, Kurtis! It’s the perfect presentation for a gift of chocolate chip cookies. Gorgeous masculine striped paper and Snoopy (my favorite cartoon character!) – it’s a win-win combo in my mind. Beautifully detailed and so very Kub-like! A++++++ !!!!

Great work! Love your photography too. Something I need to work on, so thanks for your tutorials.
I love your paint can! Snoopy is my all-time favorite, and I love him with this paper. Super!
Very cute!
I just love Charlie Brown and Snoopy. I used to watch them when I was younger. Well I love your blog. I haven’t had the time lately to look at everything, but I did just a few minutes ago and I think it is all wonderful! Keep up the good work and good luck on your graduation!
