Flowers & Swirls

Who doesn’t LOVE the new cuttlebug embossing folders?!! And look what a beautiful effect they have with Carolyn King’s newest stamp set! (available from Gina K. Designs)

When I first got her new stamp set in the mail, I wasn’t sure what to do with them…but then I saw how she colored them on her blog and realized *DUH*, I’m supposed to color with markers on the images to get the multi-color effect. (insert rolling eyes here)

Now I am loving this set!

I hadn’t had a chance to use my new cuttlebug folders from Stamper’s Dream yet so I got that out and embossed a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock with the Birds and Swirls folder. I figured that I’d go with a neutral color so it would coordinate with any colors I picked.

I looked through my color file and picked out Old Olive and Rose Red for my main colors, and stamped the main image using those markers to color the images. I then cut them out of the vanilla cardstock with my oval nestabilities and matted it on a piece of charcoal colored paper.

I grabbed a piece of Rose Red patterned paper, trimmed to size and stuck at the bottom of my Sahara Sand cardfront. The final size of this card is 5×3.5 inches. After adhering the Rose Red patterned paper, I glued my embossed piece of Sahara Sand cardstock onto the cardfront above the patterned paper and added some Bella fiber.

The main image was mounted onto the cardfront with dimensionals and I picked a blue flower from Gina K. Designs’ new “Flowers & Centers” tin to finish off the project.
