Hats off to you!

Hello everyone! Sorry that I’ve been gone so long. My family and I went to Kansas for a funeral on Friday and didn’t get back until last night so my blogging was lowered on my list of priorities. But I’m back now.

This card uses some of the new products from Gina K. Designs‘ latest release: “Thinking of You” stamp set by Rupa Shevde, Bling & Dazzle Mega Rhinestones and a special Flowers & Centers assortment -all exclusively from Gina K. Designs.

I think this hat image is my favorite from the entire release – a close second would be the star shaped flowers in Carolyn King’s new stamp set “Framed Flowers”.

I stamped the Hat image onto white cardstock with StazOn ink and colored it in with watercolor crayons. None of my crayons matched perfectly with the patterned paper so I had to do a little blending. For the hat stand and hat, I used my aqua painter to put down a base color of Sahara Sand and let it dry. I then added a little bit of Close to Cocoa and while it was still wet, I blended in some of the Charcoal color.

The ribbon on the hat needed to match the dark brown flower so I used my Chocolate Chip crayon along with my Basic Black crayon to create a deep dark brown.

I colored the flowers with Tempting Turquoise and Brocade Blue to match the rhinestone and added some DTP around the edges of the white cardstock.

After mounting the main image onto the Antique Lace patterned paper (available at Gina K. Designs) with dimensionals I added a piece of folded vellum underneath and stamped the sentiment on it with StazOn ink.

I then attached the flower with the large rhinestone to the patterned paper and the dark brown cardstock. These flowers come in a pack of three colors and include rustic colored brads. They are currently a free incentive with a $100 purchase.

Glad to see you back Kurtis. Missed your imputs. When I first looked at the your new card I thought the designer paper was snake skin. When I read the description I realized it was antique lace. It is as always a beautiful cards.

I really love your idea of stamping the sentiment on vellum so that it shows up better against the patterned paper – just genius!
