Sweetest Blessings

Today’s preview uses the new “Sweetest Blessings” stamp set designed by Mary Duffek. Although this set is illustrated by another designer, it will come in the cute tins that all of Gina’s sets come in.

Sweetest Blessings

For this design, I wanted to create a formal look, so I used a lot of white with softer colors and silver embellishments. I also centered the main image rather than putting it on a third, though I did balance the design on a third with the spray of gemstones and the sentiment.

The box is a very old cardboard box that Stampin’ Up! used to carry MANY years ago. I think I only have one more left in the package. The motif image from “Festive Labels” was stamped onto 120lb. Pure Luxury White cardstock using green ink and then I zipped around the edge with my sewing machine for a little decorative border. Also, before I adhered the white cardtock to the box, I roughed up the edges with my paper distresser.

I used the little cherry pie image from the “Sweetest Blessings” set and stamped it onto white cardstock using black ink. I then colored it using Copic Markers: R35, R37, E50, E53, E43, B00, B02, G000, W-1, W-3, and 0. After cutting it out with a scallop nestabilities die, I adhered it to a tin lid that Momma gave to me – I think they are from the ends of the Pillsbury Dough tubes.

I then mounted the tin lid with glue dots, added some white ribbon, a spray of gemstones and finished it off with one of the sentiments that is included in the set. All I need to do now, is add a sweet little treat and give it as a gift.

Butterfly Frame

I planned to have this project ready for the release party last Thursday, but the frame took too long to dry and I wasn’t able to finish it in time.

This project uses the new “Take Flight” stamp set from Gina K. Designs. When I saw the detail in this set, I knew that I wanted to try making something like this.

Butterfly Frame

I stamped the butterfly image onto 80lb. Pure Luxury White cardstock and then colored it with Copic markers. The image above didn’t capture the vibrant orange that I added to highlight the wings, but you can see it better in the picture below.

The backing for the frame was make by wrapping some white fabric around a thin piece of cardboard and I mounted the butterfly to that with mounting tape. I poked a hole in the butterfly with my paper piercer and then added a pin that I had salvaged from a dress shirt that I bought. They are the perfect size for crafting and have a little painted head on them.

The black frame originally had a gold border on the inside, but I sanded that off and then covered it with black pigment ink.

Butterfly Frame Close-up

The sentiment was stamped onto the fabric with Dark Chocolate ink and then I slipped everything into the frame. I had forgot that I cut off the antennae when I cut out the butterfly, so I added a bit of wire as a replacement. I think that it turned out nice.
