The Release Party is this Thursday, April 22 on StampTV.  There will be challenges, contest questions, chatter, as well as tons of samples from the Design Team members from 7-10 (central time) all leading to the new products being available in GinaK’s online store at 10pm.  We’d love to have you join us for our monthly party!

Day two of the Gina K. Designs Release Preview brings you two more lovely stamp sets.

By Your Side

You don’t always have to use a sympathy stamp set to make a sympathy card – I used the koi fish image from Asela Hopkins’ new “By Your Side” stamp set to make a masculine themed card.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: By Your Side (GKD)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (GKD)
  • Paper: PL Soft Sand (GKD), PL White (GKD)
  • Accessories: Copic Markers (GKD), Lemon Ribbon (GKD), Silver Rhinestones (GKD)

Thinking of You

One of Gina K.’s new sets this month is “Happy Spring,” a cute gardening set with garden sentiments. I used the water pump image and Pure Luxury Tan Leather cardstock to make a rustic themed card.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Happy Spring (GKD) Lovely Labels (GKD)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (GKD)
  • Paper: PL Tan Leather (GKD), PL Chocolate Kiss (GKD), PL White (GKD)
  • Accessories: Copic Markers (GKD), Silver Rhinestones (GKD), Sewing Machine & Thread, Dimensionals

Best Fishes

First off, I’m sorry for anyone who came to my blog yesterday hoping to see a preview of “Perfectly Polished” or “The Best Things in Life”. My stamps didn’t arrive until today so I wasn’t able to make up a sample with those sets – but don’t worry, I’ll have some for the release party on Thursday.

Today’s preview is the “Best Fishes” stamp set from Gina K. Designs. The coordination of all the images is fantastic – perfect for creating a scene or using individually, plus there are several sentiments to choose from!

drop me a line

I chose to create an underwater scene with three of the images in the set. I stamped the main fish image along with the hook and worm image onto the 120lb. Pure Luxury White cardfront and also stamped the grass images.

I used several sticky notes to create a masked border around the card and also made a mask for the fish and the grass. To create the lighter colored grass and fishes, I stamped off onto scrap paper once before stamping onto the cardfront – this made the image a shade lighter and gives the appearance of distance.

The fish in the upper left corner and the one in the bottom right corner were stamped using a “reverse image stamp” but that didn’t work out so I had to cover it up with the ribbon and sentiment. Since the reverse image stamp didn’t work, I stamped the fish in the top right upside down to appear as if it was going to the right.

After stamping all of the images I colored the scene with Copic markers. I used so many that even if I did remember which ones I used, I wouldn’t want to write them all down.

The polka-dot ribbon that I added is from Papertrey Ink and I used my Stampin’ Up! word window punch to punch out the sentiment.
