Sending Smiles

I had a stamp class a few weeks ago and I’ll be scheduling those cards to post while I’m in Kansas this next week.

Sending Smiles

I punched the flowers out of Pure Luxury Ocean Mist and Lemon Drop cardstock and stamped the polka-dot circle into the center of them. The were then attached to the PL White cardfront using silver brads.

I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto the cardfront and then drew a line horizontally using a gray marker. The layout for this card was CASED from an older [card that I made].

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Spring Mix (GKD), Bold Flowers (GKD)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (GKD), VersaMark (GKD)
  • Paper: PL White (GKD), PL Ocean Mist (GKD), PL Lemon Drop (GKD)
  • Accessories: Basic Gray Marker, Silver Brads, Flower Punch
Flower Pot & Polka-Dots

Momma needed a card for a friend whose brother passed away so I made this card for her. I kept the layers simple and the colors soft – I also chose to put the sentiment (Thinking of You) inside the card to keep the outside less cluttered.

The flower image is from the Stampin’ Up! set “Always In My Thoughts”. It was stamped with Tuxedo Black memento ink on to PL Ivory cardstock and then colored with Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. The image was then cut out and embossed with my nestabilities oval die and mounted to a piece of green polka-dot cardstock with dimensionals.

The cardbase is made from PL Ivory cardstock and I added a bit of Ivory ribbon and two copper brads for detail.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Always In My Thoughts(SU!)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (GKD)
  • Paper: PL Ivory (GKD), Green Polka-dot
  • Accessories: Koh-i-noor pencils (GKD), OMS (GKD), Blending Stumps (GKD), Copper Brads (GKD), Ivory Ribbon (GKD), Nestabilities Oval Dies (GKD), Dimensionals
With Sympathy

While browsing the gallery on Splitcoaststampers earlier this week, I came across [this lovely card] by LateBlossom. I loved the simplicity and needed a sympathy card so I used the same idea for the card below.

The flower images were punched out of Not Quite Navy and Old Olive textured cardstock and distressed a bit before adding a small gemstone to the center. The cardbase is made out of the Base Weight Pure Luxury White cardstock and I adhered the flowers with some small glue dots.

The sentiment is from the [He Is Risen!] stamp set available from Gina K. Designs. I stamped that in Rich Cocoa ink and then used a Going Gray marker to add the straight line. It just adds the right touch of elegance.

One the inside of the card I stamped the John 11:25-26 image that also comes in the He Is Risen stamp set.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: He Is Risen! (GKD)
  • Ink: Rich Cocoa Memento (GKD), Going Gray Marker (SU!)
  • Paper: Base Weight PL White (GKD), Not Quite Navy (SU!), Old Olive (SU!)

Sketch Challenge – stvsc1

I hope that some of you have participated in the challenges over at Stamp TV. There has been a color challenge, scrapbook challenge, and technique challenge so far this week, and if you participate in any of them you’ll have a chance at winning a Gina K. Designs stamp set. So if you haven’t already seen them, be sure to check them out [here].

I’ll be hosting a sketch challenge every three weeks – alternating with Jessica and Donna – so be sure to stop by and play! You can see this weeks sketch challenge [here], and below is my sample using the sketch.

I used one of the silhouette images from the Fancy Flowers stamp set that comes in the Floral Frenzy Stamp TV kit along with one of the sentiments. The flower image was stamped onto a piece of green cardstock (it comes in the kit) using VersaMark ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. I added a little distressing to the edges of the green paper for some visual interest.

The sentiment was stamped onto Chocolate Kiss cardstock (included in the kit) using VersaMark ink and also embossed with white embossing powder. I then trimmed out the words with scissors and adhered it to a panel of Chocolate Kiss cardstock. I used some white gingham ribbon (included in the kit) to tie a knot around the Chocolate Kiss panel and then added the green panel with the embossed flower.

The cardbase was made with Base Weight Pure Luxury White cardstock (included in the kit) and I adhered to it some of the printed digi-paper that also comes in the kit.

I mounted the main image panels to the cardfront with dimensionals and then added two little brads (also from the kit) to balance the design.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Fancy Flowers* (GKD)
  • Ink: VersaMark (GKD)
  • Paper: Base Weight PL White* (GKD), Layering Weight PL Chocolate Kiss* (GKD), Green Prism* (GKD), Printed Digi-Paper* (GKD)
  • Accessories: White Gingham ribbon* (GKD), Bronze Brads* (GKD), White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals, Distressing Tool* marks items included in the Floral Frenzy stamp kit
Comfort & Peace #3

This the the third sympathy card that I made for Momma last week using the Comfort & Peace stamp set from Gina K. Designs. Well, actually it’s the first of the three that I made but it’s the third that I’m posting.

Confort and Peace

I received several questions asking what scissors I used to cut out my images on these cards so I decided to answer that question here. My favorite scissors are the Cutter Bee Scissors from EK SUCCESS. – they’re the same as the Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips. They have a nice thin blade  to squeeze into the cardstock without bending it – especially nice when working with detailed images like the leaf on the card above. They also have a precision tip which means that when you close the scissors all the way, they cut to the very end.

Also, I wanted to give away TWO Cutter Bee Scissors, so leave a comment on this post to get a chance at winning them! This give away will be open until Wednesday Morning, 8:00AM Central Time – I’ll post the winners then.

- – This contest is over! Check two posts up for the winners –

Supplies for the card:

  • Stamps Comfort & Peace (GKD), Cuddles and Hugs (GKD)
  • Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento (GKD), Kiwi Kiss (SU!), Elegant Eggplant (SU!), White Brilliance
  • Papers: 120lb. Pure Luxury White (GKD), Old Olive (SU!), Perfect Plum (SU!)
  • Accessories: Corner Rounder
Comfort & Peace #2

This is the second card that I made for Momma using the Comfort & Peace stamp set from Gina K. Designs. I tried to use a color scheme that was similar to my other card, but I used a bit more purple in this design, without any brown.

Comfort and Peace

The flower image was stamped on 120lb. Pure Luxury White cardstock using both Kiwi Kiss and Elegant Eggplant inks. I then cut the flowers out of the purple image and adhered them over the green image using gluedots.

For a little accent, I tore the edges of the white paper and curled them over a little bit. The white cardtock was then adhered to a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock.

I made the little scallops with the SU scallop border punch and attached to the Perfect Plum cardstock using a sewing machine. The focal point was then mounted onto my Pale Plum cardfront (measuring 5-1/2″ x 4″) using dimensionals.

I wasn’t sure whether or not to stamp a sentiment on the outside of the card, but after much cogitation, I decided that the design was perfect without it.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Comfort & Peace (GKD)
  • Ink: Kiwi Kiss (SU!), Elegant Eggplant (SU!)
  • Paper: 120lb. Pure Luxury White (GKD), Perfect Plum (SU!), Pale Plum (SU!), Kiwi Kiss (SU!)
  • Accessories: Scallop Border Punch (SU!), Dimensionals (SU!), Sewing Machine & Thread
